CELOX - Starpack Spotlight on Sustainability

Sustainability issues were reflected in the award winning entries to the PPMA Machinery Awards of Excellence, part of the Starpack Awards 2009.

Judges were impressed by the overall quality of the entries, however only machine was considered good enough for the coveted GOLD award – Kliklok’s CELOX End Load cartoner.

The judges stated “The Celox machine represented a detailed response to researched customer requirements. We are particularly impressed by the modularity of the equipment which allows customisation and integration into existing and future plant layouts”.

“The servo driven machine is particularly user friendly and the carton feeding, erection placement, which incorporate servo-driven profiling for different carton sizes, allows old or even warped stock to be handled effectively”

“Another feature which caught our eye was the attention to detail, for example the accessory rail mounting system which allows coders, vision systems and other ancillary equipment to be mounted without drilling the frame”.

“A lot of thought has been put into how the machine will be required to operate in the future, not just the present” said judge Andrew Manly, past General Secretary of the PPMA.  Sustainable operation over the lifetime of machinery is now something every designer has to take into account

Gordon Stewart, head of the Packaging Society said "With Starpack celebrating its 50th year at the PPMA show this year, it was particularly fitting that excellence in machinery has been recognised in the Awards"
